So I’m short and always have to get new jeans hemmed as they’re always a mile too long for me, even the ‘petite’ ones. The joys of being 5’1″! You can see the jeans I’m wearing in the picture are in serious need of hemming but I’ve been too lazy to get them done, so I wear tall boots all the time!
But one of the other reasons I haven’t gotten these hemmed is because they always end up with the ‘I’m too short and had to get them taken up’ look! The hem never ends up looking the same as the original! And yes, I know the logic to not get them hemmed for this reason makes no sense since I’m always wearing boots, but that’s besides the point…
We all know it’s all about fit. Tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets and but what about fitting our favorite jeans.
About 4 months ago we had one of our fabulous clients walk back to my office and show me her newest addition…a pair of Tru Luxe jeans she had picked up while on holidays. She said they were a perfect fit for her and believe me…they were fantastic complete with bling on the pocket and the ideal style for her body. She looked amazing! With a bit of research and an email to California we found them!
Our first order has arrived and they are flying out the door, three days ago I was placing another order after only having them in the store for less than a week! This is a complimenting and fabulous addition to the great brands of jeans we already offer you at the store.
I was on the Tru Luxe website recently and see that they have put together a fabulous guide to body shapes and styles that work. I thought I would share their information with you…..
You are definitely one of the lucky ones with your rectangular figure! You are lean and have the look of an athlete. You can wear all kinds of jeans styles, you can experiment with colour..bright or light, and there are a million ways to add a waist or soften your shoulders. But I am getting ahead of myself here. Let’s start with your overall look.
If you are apple shaped your upper body is larger from your waist up. You usually have a fuller bust, an undefined waist, narrow hips and sometimes a flat backside. When you gain your weight, it inevitably heads for your waist. When dressing for your shape, you should be trying to lengthen your body…making you taller so as to distribute your overall shape and bring attention to your real true assets…your bust line and your fabulous legs.
Shapes, shapes and more shapes. If you are the hourglass you truly are the envy of most of us. You are proportioned and balanced with shapely shoulders and curvacious hips. Your waist is defined and you bust is medium to full. Most would be wondering by now, how you would need any assistance in dressing, you’ve got it all but there are a few does and don’t. Not many but there are some.
One thing is for sure….we are a multitude of shapes and sizes, and then there is even morphology to add to the mix. I had to look up that word years ago…it means body shape. You know, when the size guide says you should fit size B according to general statistics but actually your into a C because you carry all your weight in your derriere (like me). Anyone who has tried on a pair of Spanx knows what I mean.
I had Gil take a picture of myself and Jocelyn…We are pears…..Jocelyn is just a much younger, slimmer pear…those were the days….sigh.
